Transfer Ownership of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon to the Burns Paiute Tribe
via We The People

“The occupation of the administration building of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge building by armed protestors reminds us that this land was part of a much larger tract that was to have been secured for the Paiute Indians according to a treaty of 1868, which Congress failed to ratify… a transfer of these 187,757 acres to the Burns Paiute Tribe would honor the spirit of the 1868 treaty which the U.S. Government failed to enact, provide significant resources to the tribe, and directly address the protestors purported grievances. The transfer of the land should be made with the stipulation that the territory be managed as a wildlife refuge, consistent with existing United States law and policy.”

Tell LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Group to Keep the T
via Change.org

“We, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning community and our allies, wholeheartedly reject the petition and idea that LGBT advocacy groups should “drop the T”. We urge the national organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, Lambda Legal, Out and Equal Workplace Advocates, and the Task Force, regional or state-based organizations such as Equality California, Equal Rights Washington, and Basic Rights Oregon, and media outlets such as the Advocate, Out Magazine, and Huffington Post Gay Voices, to continue to acknowledge and represent the very real struggles of our friends, family, colleagues, and fellow activists in the transgender community… The petition calling for these organizations to “drop the T” lists some very disturbing items in support of their misguided argument.”

Ban Private Prisons in the U.S.
via Bernie Sanders

“Of the nearly 1.6 million people in federal and state prisons in 2013, 8.4% were held in private prisons. We cannot fix our criminal justice system if corporations are allowed to profit from mass incarceration. We must put an end to the private prison system in America, and I have a plan to do this. I recently introduced the Justice Is Not for Sale Act, which would do the following: Ban private prisons, Reinstate the federal parole system, Eliminate quotes for the number of immigrants held in detention centers.”

Decriminalize Brothels in the U.K.
via Petitions UK Government and Parliament

“More than 1 Sex Worker working in a building is considered a brothel. Decriminalising makes it safe to work together, form trade unions, report crimes & be protected by regular employment laws. Criminalising workers/clients pushes Sex Work underground, making it more dangerous & harder to regulate… The brutal & degrading Soho Raids in 2013 saw women dragged in front of press in the street half-naked & falsely accused of theft, drug taking & being coerced… Decriminalising breaks stigma/stereotypes & protects those who enter the profession out of choice & people forced into it as they can approach the police safely.”

Outlaw Gay Conversion Therapy in Washington State (U.S.)
via Governor Jay Inslee

Gay conversion therapy can result in lasting emotional and psychological trauma. “Washington Republicans blocked a bill that would have banned the horrible practice of gay-straight conversion therapy programs. These programs are misguided and damaging to LGBT individuals in our state. Jay Inslee supports banning these practices. Add your name, and tell the governor you’ve got his back.”

Save Sacred Native American Lands (U.S.)
via Credo Mobilize

“Last year, Republicans in Congress secretly gave away sacred Native American lands to a multinational mining conglomerate. If this deal is finalized, these sacred Native lands could be destroyed permanently.” The bipartisan Save Oak Flat Act must pass in Congress if this “shameful land trade” is to be repealed and this sacred Native American land preserved.

Stand With Planned Parenthood (U.S.)
via Planned Parenthood

[U.S.] Congress is moving to end that national family planning program, Title X. Women’s access to basic and essential care is being eroded by a congressional bill that would “eliminate federal funding for Title X, the grant program dedicated to funding family planning. That means cuts to federal funding for birth control, lifesaving cancer screenings, HIV testing, and other essential care that Planned Parenthood health centers provide every day… 1 in 5 women in America has turned to Planned Parenthood health centers for care.”

Tell Ireland to Make Abortion Legal
via Amnesty International

“Ireland has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the world. This is underpinned by its Constitution, which protects prenatal life on an equal footing with the life of the woman. Ireland only allows women and girls access to abortion if their life is at risk. In all other cases, abortion is a crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Healthcare providers are stopped from giving out full information on abortion, for fear of being accused of “promoting” or “advocating” it – a crime that carries a fine of up to €4,000. By denying women and girls abortions in cases of rape, incest, risk to health or severe and fatal foetal impairment, Ireland is violating their human rights.”
