Flint Water Fund via United Way of Genesee County has been set up in the wake of the drinking water contamination in Flint, Michigan to fund “the purchase of filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts. 100% of the fund is used for these projects and no Administrative Fee is assessed.” To donate, click here.
Planned Parenthood (U.S.-based) is always an excellent organization you can donate to, and you can do so here. Many Planned Parenthood centers have closed down across the U.S., leaving numerous women without access to affordable reproductive healthcare. “Your gift will help support Planned Parenthood’s work at the local and national level, where Planned Parenthood provides clinical services, comprehensive, accurate health information, and works to ensure universal access to quality, affordable health care.”
The Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) is a U.S.-based trans rights legal advocacy organization you can donate to here. “SRLP is a collective organization founded on the understanding that gender self-determination is inextricably intertwined with racial, social and economic justice.” They seek to “provide access to free, quality, respectful, affirming legal services for low-income transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming people.”
UNICEF is one of the better international aid organizations, and you can donate here. We highly recommend them over organizations like the Red Cross because the vast majority of money given to UNICEF actually funds the work they do. “UNICEF takes proven, low-cost methods that save children’s lives and makes them available regardless of income, ethnicity or location. By making a 100% tax-deductible donation to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF today, you can provide children with: lifesaving vaccines and insecticide-treated bed nets, emergency relief following natural disasters, educational opportunities and School-in-a-Box kits, and much more.”
